Tumbleweed’s Dave Jevans to Testify Before U.S. Senate Special Committee on Aging

Jevans to Provide Lawmakers with Details on Internet Fraud Affecting Seniors

Redwood City, CA – March 23, 2004 – Tumbleweed® Communications Corp. (NASDAQ:TMWD - News), a leading provider of secure Internet messaging software for enterprises, today announced that Dave Jevans, Chief Marketing Officer of Tumbleweed Communication and Chairman of the Anti-Phishing Working Group, is scheduled to testify today before the Senate Special Committee on Aging's hearing on Internet Fraud affecting Seniors. The Washington D.C hearing will focus on Internet fraud as it affects the growing "online" senior population.

Mr. Jevan’s testimony will center on the problem of Internet email spoofing fraud, better known as "phishing." His testimony will describe phishing, the growth of the problem, and how it affects consumers. Mr. Jevans will outline the activities of the industry Anti-Phishing Working Group. Tips for consumers to help them identify fraudulent emails, and methods for businesses to protect their brand identities from phishing scams, will be discussed.

The Anti-Phishing Working Group (APWG) is focused on eliminating the problem of phishing and email spoofing attacks, by developing and sharing information about the problem, and promoting the visibility and adoption of industry solutions.
